With Turned On Danish sound artist Stormhat serves up a collection of exquisitely contructed sonic textures. Stormhat uses a finely tuned blend of field recordings, noises, rudimentary instruments, radio and noise generators that gives the listener a very vivid sense of space; of actually being situated among the sources of sound. The extensive use of field recordings enhance this effect by constantly placing you among elements that are familiar, but still somehow twisted and distorted.

"Turned On" is like experiencing the world through a stranger, some of the time maybe even like having been shifted to a parallel universe. It's a world you almost know, which at times makes it an unsettling and confusing experience, but also one filled with moments of surprise and beauty.

Threnody for Gus Remolten is a sonic epitaph by Consistency Nature (Dishdawash Arnett), honoring the album's eponymous noisemaker with a collection of utterly strange and unsettling soundwork. The download comes with a PDF containing notes by Mr. Arnett. Here he writes:

Many of the recordings used within this homage and hymn were created by me destroying his machine. Leaving it in the rain, digging with it, scraping it against concrete, and hitting it with firecrackers. Here is the music of my nightmares. The fever dream in the desolate tundra of Gus Remolten's birthdeath experience. Like the tape recorder, time punctures and ruptures my collective of organic being.

Last Breath concludes the trilogy of maritime madness that Boe started with "Low Harbour" in 2009, followed by "The Haul" in 2010. Rusted clutter shifting through a restless black sea of improvisation based around guitar and percussion, flawlessy executed by Børre Myklebust, who through these three albums proves himself as a master of cinematic sounds.

Our Italian friends Zero Centigrade have once again graced us with their presence, this time in a collaboration with guitarist Maurizio Argenziano (known from A spirale and other projects). You will no doubt recognize the distinct Zero Centigrade sound on Dusty Grass; intimate, whispering, scratching, clawing, but with an added flavour and range stemming from MA's brilliant guitar work. Eight tracks of improv that feel intimately familiar, but also alien and disturbing. Like listening to your own heartbeat while insects are crawling your skin.
